Hi.

disco balls, hi hats, drum claps, wearing black. these are a few of our favorite things.

3/8-3/12

3/8-3/12

Welcome to another edition of what we're recommending this week. San Francisco has a electronic music scene, and this week is no exception to the rule. Go forth and dance.

3/8 - Beats for Lunch - Rachel Torro - F8

Legendary lunchtime event returns to F8 this week with Public Works resident and deep techno-house wunderkind, Rachel Torro on the decks, if you’re able to get away from toiling at work. There's no cover for this event too.

3/10 - Deep House Yoga with Jill McDonald - Public Works

Public Works has been host to Deep House Yoga for quite some time. This week (like most), it’s hosted by founder and Modular resident, Jill McDonald.

3/10 - J Phlip - Monarch

There’s nothing we love more than seeing an event for a good cause; this is the first of two happening on March 10th. Dirtybird’s techno queen J Phlip is on deck at everyone’s favorite Rave Cave: Monarch. We’re looking forward to the diverse stylings and crate-digging style she brings to every set, which have been known to slide elegantly from drum and bass to acid techno to bass house and back again. Proceeds for this show go to Emerge America, an organization focused on training women to become political leaders.

3/10 - Zero Fucks/House of Bass - Public Works

Event two for charity this week is Zero Fucks’ regular party; but there is an all female DJ lineup on this occasion, promoted by women too; and supporting Planned Parenthood. We’re thrilled to see these forward thinking women work collectively to throw a great party at our favorite space; Public Works.

3/10 - Technasia - feat. Zita Molnar and Yaz

The very cosmopolitan Technasia will be making a stop at Halcyon friday night. Not only is he a successful label boss in his own right for his eponymous label, he has strong releases on Toolroom, Ovum, Cadenza, and Suara. The evening will be opened up by Zettabyte Records/MNMLFUN founder Zita Molnar, and Pink Mammoth’s Yaz, ensuring some very solid techno and tech house from open to close.

3/10 - Chaos in the CBD - F8

Rounding out an excessively stacked Friday night in the city is Chaos in the CBD. On cult-favorite label Rhythm Section, the Shuffle Co-Op has shown us their typical forward-thinking bookings once again. Chaos in the CBD is known for their well made jazz-influenced solo productions and well-informed selections in sets.

3/11 - Simon Shackleton b2b The Scumfrog - feat Kimba & Diva Danielle - Public Works

Opel’s 15 Year Anniversary happens this week as well, with a b2b set from Simon Shackleton and the Scumfrog, with Divadanielle in the Loft, and Kimba opening up in the main room.

3/11 - Disco Together - feat Jessica Stanell, DJ Dot, Leyl Master Black - The Great Northern

Our favorite soundsystem in San Francisco plays host to Disco Together this Saturday, also a for-charity event (they’re contributing 15% of proceeds to the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project) and has an excellent near-half female lineup over the course of what will be a groovy evening.

3/11 - Luigi Madonna/Gardens of God - feat Emanate & Lindsey Herbert - Halcyon

Drumcode’s Luigi Madonna and Ellum’s Gardens of God will be making their respective west coast debuts this Saturday at Halcyon. This new venue is doing an outstanding job of bringing in some serious techno heavyweights; made all the better by stacking it from the start by putting Lindsey Herbert (Robot Ears/INVERT) and Emanate (Mioli Music) on opening honors. Another one you'll want to arrive early and stay late for - made even easier by Halcyon’s rare-for-San Francisco 24-hour license. This particular evening has a great combination of female talent and fresh bookings.

3/12 Ladies’ Night - Vinyl Dreams

Everyone’s favorite Lower Haight record shop Vinyl Dreams hosts an ongoing ladies night that we’re quite a fan of. The vibes are good, the discounts are deep (10% for ladies from 2-5pm), and the music is typically even better. This week it plays host to DJ Rosegold, Teemoney, and Jess. Browse for wax while you enjoy their surprisingly excellent soundsystem and ultra knowledgeable staff.

For a more comprehensive guide to upcoming dance music events, we recommend this calendar. Have we missed an event? Have something coming up we should know about? Corrections? Email us for consideration at info@technoclam.com.
